“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?”
— Isaiah 43:19a

Dear Friends in Christ,
The Easter season endures, offering a beautiful reminder that resurrection is more than a single Sunday event; it is a continuous living reality we embrace each day. During this joyful Eastertide, all of creation joins in celebrating the renewal. Spring has come with its warmer sun, blooming flowers, lush green landscapes, and birds singing in the morning. Everywhere we turn, signs reveal that God continues to bring forth new life.
As Methodist Christians, we see grace not just in extraordinary moments but also in everyday wonders. The arrival of spring stands as a living witness to hope and resurrection. The same God who raised Christ from the dead keeps renewing hearts, communities, and creation itself.
This Easter season, I am thankful to be spending vacation in San Jose, California, with my daughter’s family. Watching my granddaughter grow after a year apart has been one of the season’s greatest joys. Seeing her wonder, energy, and spiritual curiosity has been a quiet grace for me. Hearing her memorize Psalm 23—“The Lord is my shepherd”—moved me deeply. In a child’s faith, I am reminded that God’s promises are continually being renewed.
Recently, I had the privilege of worshiping at Los Gatos United Methodist Church. Being there reinforced the connectional spirit of our United Methodist tradition—wherever God’s people come together in prayer, praise, the Word, and sacrament, Christ is among us. It was a soul-renewing experience.
As May progresses, we near Mother’s Day, a special time to celebrate women—mothers, grandmothers, spiritual mothers, and mentors—whose nurturing love embodies God’s tenderness. Their care, sacrifices, and unwavering faith often serve as our initial encounters with grace.
Soon, we will celebrate Pentecost, the Church’s birthday, when the Holy Spirit united diverse people into one body and empowered them for mission. Pentecost teaches us that the church is sustained not by human strength alone but by God’s living breath. It invites us to renewed unity, witness, and holy imagination.
The theme of Spirit-led unity holds special significance for us this year as the United Ministry of Delhi celebrates its 50th anniversary. This sacred milestone reminds us that, for fifty years, God’s faithfulness has been evident through worship, service, mission, and community. The golden anniversary is a moment to honor our history and to express gratitude for the Spirit’s ongoing role in shaping our shared future. Like the early church at Pentecost, we are called once again to be a community of hope, hospitality, and healing.
Reflecting on Easter joy, spring beauty, family blessings, and our communal journey makes me believe that resurrection isn’t limited to the empty tomb. It is alive wherever love flourishes, faith is fostered, communities come together, and the Spirit revitalizes the church.
May this season of sunshine, song, blossoms, and birds inspire us to deepen our awareness of God’s renewing grace. May the risen Christ fill our hearts with joy, the Spirit ignite our passion for service, and our beloved church thrive as a vibrant witness to the gospel.
Christ is indeed risen — and new life is blossoming among us.
Grace and Peace,
Premkumar Immanuel Clement
