Advent Devotional
Magnify: Mary’s Song and the Magnificent Women of Advent
Each Advent season, Christian communities all over the world return to Mary’s stirring song, the “Magnificat.” But the truth is, Mary doesn’t sing alone. She sings with Hannah, and Elizabeth, and Miriam, and Shiphrah, and Puah, and Rizpah, and Ruth – and a host of other magnificent women who “magnify” God’s mission of love and grace, preparing the way for Christmas morning and beyond.
In this Advent devotional, we focus on a few of those women in scripture who blazed the trail for Mary and Jesus, and who can inspire us, too, to join in the song of God’s salvation, where the lowly are lifted up, the mighty are brought down from their thrones, and the hungry are filled with good things. Come, Jesus, come!

Weekly Adult Book Study
Our Adult Book/Bible study group meets on Thursday morning, 10:30 am to 12 noon in the Harder Room. Currently the group is studying and discussing the book of Ruth. Join anytime; no sign up required, no special books as we’re simply using the Bible for this study.
Currently, we’re taking on Surprised by Hope: Rethinking Heaven, The Resurrection, and the Mission of the Church. Anyone is welcome to join us. If you’d like to join us, please do. We meet at 10:30 in the Harder Room. Pastor Cathy has copies of the book.
We regularly rotate through other small group opportunities seasonally, including Sunday School, reading groups, and other Bible Studies. Contact Deb Kearney (office@umdelhi.org) or Pastor Cathy (pastor@umdelhi.org) for information on current offerings.
