Lenten Devotional Lift Up Your Voice: Singing through Lent and Easter

Lift Up Your Voice: Singing through Lent and Easter

Lyric sheet that includes links to Spotify playlist and Digital Lyrics and Links

For this year’s 40-day Lenten journey, why not take the Christian musical treasury as your guide, classic hymns and sacred songs bringing together big ideas and beautiful melodies?

In this devotional, each week, reflections on biblical texts and beloved music inspire practices you can try yourself, with your family or friends, or with your congregation. As the days lengthen, the birds will sing – and so will we, joining in with creation’s symphony of sorrow and joy, death and new life. Lift up your voice!

This devotional comes with a “Lyrics and Links” document, complete with lyrics to all the songs – “Amazing Grace” to “Be Thou My Vision,” “Were You There?” to “Abide with Me,” “Thuma Mina” to “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” (50 songs in all!) – as well as links to performances so you can learn or be reminded of the tunes. The songs span a range of eras and cultures, helping us sing with ancestors and neighbors. And there’s even a link to a SALT-curated Spotify playlist of the songs, including fantastic versions of old favorites – the playlist alone can help enliven your Lenten season!

The Thursday morning Book Study will spend a few weeks looking at the Revised Social Principles of the United Methodist Church.  If you’d like to join us, let Pastor Cathy know and we’ll make sure there’s enough coffee for you.  And get you a copy of the Social Principles.  We meet Thursday mornings at 10:30 in the Harder Room.

We regularly rotate through other small group opportunities seasonally, including Sunday School, reading groups, and other Bible Studies. Contact Deb Kearney (office@umdelhi.org) or Pastor Cathy (pastor@umdelhi.org) for information on current offerings.
